A NEW road layout is being installed in Newport town centre to reduce congestion.
The current system of three lanes at Church Litten has one lane for all traffic for Morrisons supermarket, its petrol station and Marks and Spencer.
The council said that could lead to traffic congestion at busy times.
It said the new layout would have one lane for Morrisons traffic, one lane for Marks and Spencer and Morrisons petrol station traffic and one lane for traffic heading to the town centre.
The works are due to be completed on Friday, although this depends on the weather as new lines need to be painted.
The existing traffic lights will be slightly remodelled as part of the new layout and this part of the work will take place next week, the council said.

Well - I for one am not so keen to see Mr Merciless welcomed back with open arms. I stand by my earlier comments - leave Chruch Litten to the appropriate authorities and I assure you that the IWC won't interfere in your planets congestion issues.

i think,mr prescott you know very well i meant its grand opening, if it can be called that, but it will probably be on a saturday when the very idea of joining a 10 mile queue to get to newport will be the last thing any of us want

I've all but stopped shopping at Morrison's in Newport because of the traffic although Sainsbury's car park seems to be permanently full in daylight hours. I think that's the third change to Church Litten in ten years, is it not? Hope third time lucky?
