Belgrave Harriers all but secured their second successive British League division one title on Saturday after a demolition of the opposition in Edinburgh.

Belgrave chalked up 11 outright wins and seven second places during an afternoon that ended with the south Londoners a massive 62 points clear of second-placed Sale Harriers of Manchester.

This leaves Belgrave five points clear of Sale at the top of the table with just one round remaining.

"Short of a complete collapse in the last fixture, the title is ours," said confident team boss John Jeffery after the arduous journey north. "The final match will see a few changes because some of the lads have indicated a desire to test themselves in different events, and it would be nice to blood some youngsters too."

Belgrave's job on Saturday was not made any easier by the conditions. Swirling winds and, at times, pouring rain made it impossible for the star-studded line-up to perform near their best.
