IT MIGHT look more like a river, but this was the scene discovered by a pair of cyclists who braved Saturday’s heavy rain and flooding.

Adam Durrance and Darren Barton headed out for a ride from Newport to Cowes and on to Sandown and encountered some testing conditions en route.

Adam, 26, of Rooke Street, Newport, captured the scene on camera.

"We got to a track that leads on to Halberry Lane in Newport and saw the water, but we thought it was only about a foot deep.

"About 20 yards down the water was waist high, but we couldn’t stop, we just had to keep going.

"My bike is white, but by the end it was black. The water was really smelly too. It was fun though," said Adam.
