Paintings go under the hammer

The John Knibb clock, due to go on sale at Island Auction Rooms.

PAINTINGS by the renowned Victorian artist JF Herring Snr will go under the hammer at an Isle of Wight auction house tomorrow (Tuesday).

The paintings, which have been valued at £4,000 to £6,000 each, are part of a sale of 700 lots due to take place at Island Auction Rooms in Shanklin.

More than 150 of the lots, including the paintings, have come from a single property in Ryde.

Among the other highlights are some rare lantern clocks, including one by celebrated maker John Knibb dating back to the 17th century.

A viewing is due to take tonight (Monday) from 5.30pm.
