Golfers battled it out for the Roehampton Club Gold Cup at the Roehampton Club on Friday.

Tour regulars Wendy Dicks (ranked 27th in Europe last year) and Jackie Crowe held a slim lead at lunch with one under par rounds of 72. They were closely followed by the Head twins, Johanna and Samantha, and Caroline Grady.

In the afternoon Johanna Head set the pace and added a 72 to post a difficult target in the c;lubhouse.

Ultimately it was the 1992 British Ladies Open champion, Karen Lunn, whose challenge with a three under par round of 70, forced a tie and honours shared.
