CONCERNED residents met tonight (Thursday) to discuss parking issues in Cowes.

Around 40 residents came together at St Faith's Church, to discuss the IW Council's plans to replace on-the-road parking spaces with double yellow lines in Newport Road and surrounding areas.

The meeting, attended by the Island's MP, Andrew Turner, heard how the IW Council wanted to put down double yellow lines for safety reasons.

However, residents feared it would leave them with nowhere to park.

They were concerned motorists would drive faster along Newport Road if cars were not parked there.

The residents decided to send letters to the IW Council, objecting to the move.
