THE third of the Isle of Wight's Queen Elizabeth II Playing Fields is being dedicated today (Saturday).

Church Litten, in the centre of Newport, will join Simeon Recreation Ground, Ryde and Victoria Recreation Ground, East Cowes, in having the royal seal.

The dedication will offer additional protection for the fields against development.

Today’s ceremony, which will include contributions from Isle of Wight Lord Lieutenant Maj Gen Martin White, Island MP Andrew Turner, and Bob Ackland, chairman of the Isle of Wight County Playing Fields Association, takes place at 11am.
