Plenty to smile about at festival

THE FANS came up and saw Steve Harley and his Cockney Rebels perform and he certainly made them smile at the Isle of Arts festival in Ventnor on Saturday night.

The three-man acoustic show was played out to a packed audience in the festival's marquee arena in Salisbury Gardens.

His show, A Closer Look, followed that of stand-up comedienne Sandi Toksvig, who also performed to a packed crowd.

Harley, backed by Island musician Barry Wickens (violin and guitar) and James Lascelles (keyboards and percussion), played a selection of songs spanning his successful career, which included his number one hit, Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me).

Read a review of the concert and other Isle of Arts events in the Isle of Wight County Press on Friday, April 27.
