Prison closure could hit NHS

I think it's payback by the prison service. They were obviously miffed when the NHS at St Marys' introduced parking meters.

Its been a bad week for the company I work for too with several job losses. Makes you wonder if things will ever get better.

Setting aside the obvious issue here with job losses. Is there any need to be calling public servants who do a demanding job names? It's on par with calling the unemployed "scroungers" when the vast majority are simply people out of work desperately trying to provide for themselves and their family, I suspect manyu comments on here are from people purely tring to "troll" as response. Grow up! (Son of a prison officer, not a screw , warder or any other description PRISON OFFICER). This is a serious issue and will impact the lives of far more people than just the prison officers (and let's not forget the other staff too, it isn't just the prison officers who will be out of work), treat it with a bit more respect please.

It's been a REALLY bad week for an the employment market on the Island. The situation was already dire, it does worry me about the severe lack of opportunities here. In one week we have had job loses announced at Jessops, Artigiano, IOW Glass, Seaward Marine & Camphill !! The Isle of Wight employment black spot just got a whole lot bigger....... :(

I was asked to move by a couple of screws escorting some lowlife and had to stand and wait while they all sat comfortably. No loss.

The island is already an unemployment blackspot, Jobs lost will be hard to replace.The Islands infrastructure is too limited, the Solent a major factor obviously. Why site a business here? Countless commercial and tourism sites are being converted to a housing blight. Great - mass housing - cramped roads - public services under seige - and no money because the majority are on benefits. The only future for the Island is to use its only asset - its beauty. We are going down the road of thoroughly spoiling it. A giant housing estate for people sadly unemployed. Short sighted management by public authorities.

There should be no more house building on the Isle of wight until all the people who have lost jobs recently like at Camp Hill, get new jobs. Otherwise we will be an Island of unemployed. With new houses going straight to the unemployed.
They keep building them, where are the jobs?
