Suffolk Youth 1 Hemel Youth 0

Bushey League Challenge Cup Final

A goal that would grace any final handed Suffolk Youth the League Cup.

With time running out, Jamie Hazell turned on the edge of the area before unleashing a fierce drive into the far corner of the net.

Defenders Danny Fitzgerald and Niall Hardiman were called into action as Suffolk grimly held on to their lead to claim the trophy.

The win completes a fine season for team coaches Mike Semken and Dean Hazell.

Suffolk had already bagged the Saturday Premier League title and finished top in the Sunday Division before this success.

This was always going to be a tough encounter and Suffolk took the game to Hemel.

But for all their neat play, they just could not break down a massed defence.

Mat Semken and Mitchell Haylock wasted glorious opportunities to open the scoring after finding space in the penalty area.

At the other end, the outstanding David O'Sullivan had to be at his best to keep out a goal-bound effort.

The U10s continued their fine form by winning a 6-a-side tournament on Sunday. Suffolk completely dominated the 40-team event, and succeeded in getting all their sides into the semi-finals.

One of these was an all Suffolk affair and both keepers, David O'Sullivan and Kevin Marshall, were in superb form.

The match was decided on penalty kicks and the Eagles went on to win the competition, courtesy of a Jamie Hazell goal in the final.

Suffolk host their own tournament this Saturday.
