Revised timetable for hovercraft

HOVERTRAVEL has advised customers of a revised timteable for two weeks from Monday, October 8.

The company will be operating a one craft service from 8.30am on Monday, October 8 until 4.15pm on Friday, October 12 to allow for routine and planned, long term maintenance on Island Express on the pad at Ryde.

The following week a one craft service will run from the same times, Monday to Friday, for routine maintenance on the Freedom 90 hovercraft which will take place at the Griffon Hoverwork facility at Woolston.

Hovertravel have really gone downhill since the takeover. Detrimental changes to season tickets, poor compensation system for cancelled services and increasing unreliability.

When you add these changes to the swingeing increases in car parking costs at pier road imposed by the Council, Hovertravel are becoming much less attractive as an alternative to Wightlink.

I think they still have the edge, but that is more to do with the even more dire reliability of the Wight Ryder craft than any effort by Hovertravel.
