POLICE and coastguards on the Isle of Wight have been involved in a search for a missing woman this morning (Sunday).
Coastguards said they were called to assist in the search, in the Tennyson Down area of the West Wight, at around 1.30am.
Police said Patricia Tolfree, 67, of Brighstone, was last seen by her husband at 8.30am yesterday (Saturday) when she was due to travel to Winchester to see friends for the day.
She did not return in the evening.
Her car, a blue 57 registration Volkswagen Polo, has been located on the Island and a police spokesman said there was increased concern for her welfare as it was unusual for Mrs Tolfree not to be in contact with her family.
Patricia Tolfree (pictured below) is described as:
• 5ft tall
• Short brown/grey hair
• Tanned complexion
• Wears glasses
• Last seen wearing black trousers, an orange blouse, black jumper and boots
"Police enquiries into Mrs Tolfree’s whereabouts are ongoing. Officers would like to hear from anyone who believes they may have seen Patricia Tolfree to contact them as soon as possible," said the spokesman.
*Police have this evening issued a further appeal in connection with Mrs Tolfree, calling on anyone who used the High Down Chalk Pit car park near Totland yesterday (Saturday) to make contact.
Anyone with information should contact the duty sergeant at Newport police station on 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
*It was initially reported that Mrs Tolfree was from Totland. This was due to incorrect information supplied.
