BRIGHTON

(H) Saturday March 14 Division Three

MANAGER: Brian Horton: Took charge last month, after Steve Gritt, who kept the Seagulls in the Football League last season, was sacked. Horton was immensely popular with the Brighton fans as a player in the 1970's, captaining the side as they stepped up from Division Three to Division One under former Bees boss Alan Mullery. Started his managerial career with Hull City, followed by spells in charge at Oxford, Manchester City and Huddersfield.

FORM: Faced with another relegation worry, Brighton supporters must feel relieved that Doncaster are faring even worse. Fortunately, there's been an improvement since Horton took charge. Brighton have been unbeaten, collecting five points from three games with a 3-2 win over Chester City at their adopted home ground, Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium, followed by a 0-0 draw at Rotherham and another goalless home game, against Hartlepool.

|PLAYERS TO WATCH|

Kerry Mayo (midfield): Scored two goals in the win over Chester to become the Seagulls' joint top scorer this term... with four! A promising 20-year-old local lad, Mayo had his worst moment when he conceded an own-goal in that vital battle for league survival at Hereford last season. But Brighton managed a 1-1 draw to send Hereford into the Conference and retain their own league status.

Graeme Atkinson (left-back): Started his league career with his home town club Hull City, making 149 league appearances, before moving on to Preston. Became Horton's first signing recently as Brighton took over his contract until the end of the season.

Steve Barnes (striker): Tricky left winger in the second month of a loan spell from Birmingham City.

Gary Hobson (central defender): Skipper Hobson is a steady, experienced campaigner, who, like Atkinson, began his career with Hull, making 142 appearances, before Jimmy Case signed him for Brighton.
