Study into lack of men in childcare

By Jamie White

Monday, February 20, 2012

A CHILD care practitioner is asking for help with her study into the lack of men working in the childcare industry.

Lynne Harkins works at Greenmount Pre-School, Ryde, and is in her final year of a foundation degree in early childhood studies.

Her project will focus on men in childcare, using local and national information.

She said: "I would like to establish the views of Island parents and childcare practitioners on how they feel about men looking after young children and if they think it is a good thing to have more men in childcare."

Lynne will also contact members of online forum mums.net and readers of the national childcare magazine, Nursery World.

Anyone who can help can e-mail her at mainrockingham@hotmail.com
