A TEENAGER was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance this afternoon (Sunday).

A spokeswoman for the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service said he was taken to Southampton as a precaution and was not thought to have life-threatening injuries.

It is believed the boy was involved in a road traffic incident on Main Road, Shalfleet, at around 3.30pm.

The police closed the road between Warlands Lane and Station Road.

Island Roads arranged a diversion.
