Teenager in a stable condition after collision

A TEENAGER who suffered a serious head injury in a road traffic collision yesterday (Sunday) afternoon was in a stable condition today, according to police.

The 13-year-old boy was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to Southampton General Hospital following a collision on Main Road, Shalfleet.

Police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to the scene at 3.30pm.

A police spokesman said today (Monday): "A 13-year-old pedestrian was involved in a collision with a blue Ford Escort. He was taken to Southampton General Hospital with a head injury, which is not being treated as life threatening. His condition is described as serious but stable."

The police are now investigating the circumstances of the collision.
