THIRTEEN young people were taken to hospital on Friday night following a crash in Rookley.

Three cars were involved in the collision, which happened shortly after 11pm at Niton Road, according to the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.

The occupants of the cars, three young men and ten women, were aged between 16 and 21.

A spokesman at St Mary's Hospital said only one of the occupants, a 17-year-old male, was admitted to hospital overnight as a precautionary measure. His injuries were not serious.

The rest were sent home that night.
