To have and to boogie at Bestival

Darren Smith and Donna Clark, who will get married at Bestival.

IMAGINE a wedding reception with 65,000 guests, most of whom you have never met.

That is exactly what one couple is planning this September, when they will head to the Isle of Wight to celebrate their wedding at Bestival.

Totton couple Darren Smith and Donna Clark will tie the knot at Southampton Register Office, before jumping on a private boat and speeding across The Solent, then heading to Robin Hill.

They had been planning a more conventional reception but decided it was not what either of them wanted, Donna, 38, a hairdresser, said.

So she and engineer partner Darren, 40, hatched a plan to head to Bestival to celebrate with another ceremony at its famous inflatable church.

The festival has a special place in the couple’s hearts, as it was there that Darren proposed to Donna last year.

"We had paid deposits for other venues and we realised it was what we wanted to do. We said, let’s just get away on our own,"
