A WEATHER warning for heavy rain today (Wednesday) has been issued by the Met Office.

The yellow 'be aware' warning was from midnight until 11pm tonight.

The Met Office said "A band of heavy rain will move north across southern parts of England and Wales during Tuesday night, followed by heavy and locally thundery downpours for Wednesday. The rain will be accompanied by strong and gusty southeasterly winds."

The poor weather led to the suspension of Hovertravel services this morning.
