Last year's Autumn Walking Weekend.
THE Isle of Wight’s annual Autumn Walking Weekend starts tomorrow (Friday).
More than 70 walks are being held across the Island, from fossil hunting at Brook Chine, a 77-mile round-the-Island walk over 36 hours with one overnight stop, a sing-about stroll at Ventnor Botanic Garden and an autumn bird watch around Bembridge and Culver Down.
The festival’s speed dating walk — which now boasts four weddings and a baby — is on Sunday starting at the Fisherman’s Cottage, Shanklin Esplanade.
This year’s programme also includes a walk in the grounds of Quarr Abbey in aid of Naomi House, the six-mile Wootton oblong and a picturesque ramble along the Robert Hooke Trail, tomorrow (Friday).
The festival runs until Monday, October 29 and for a full programme see www.isleofwightwalkingfestival.co.uk
• The popular Giant Toddle for young children and their families around Appley Park has been cancelled.
