A WOMAN from the Isle of Wight was in a stable condition after she collided with a tree in a single vehicle accident in the West Wight last night (Friday).
The driver, a 29-year-old woman from Wootton, was taken to St Mary's Hospital, Newport, with non-serious injuries following the accident on the Bouldnor Road, near Yarmouth, at around 11pm.
The woman is in a stable condition and is being kept in hospital for the time being, a hospital spokesman said.
There were no passengers in the car.
Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service crews from Yarmouth and Newport were called out at 11.07pm to assist. The scene was declared safe at 11.38pm.
The police closed a section of road to traffic, between Hill Place Lane and Bouldnor Road, for up to an hour.
