A YACHTSMAN had a near miss when his or her vessel almost collided with the floating bridge.
The yacht became snagged on the floating bridge chain and was quickly thrown into reverse to avoid a collision.
Onlooker Derek Singleton, who captured this picture, said there were cheers and catcalls from people waiting for the floating bridge.
He said: "The captain of the chain ferry had been sounding his horn as a warning but had to stop the ferry only a few yards from the yacht to avoid a collision, so you can imagine he was none too pleased."

This is one take on it, but another is to acknowledge that the Cowes Harbour byelaws state the floating bridge must give way to other vessels:http://www.cowesharbourcommission.co.uk/documents/CowesHarbourByelaws.pdf
