JUNIOR RUGBY
Vectis Colts 15, Fordingbridge Colts 15
THESE two sides put in a great performance and were a credit to themselves and to the game last weekend.
The Vectis pack were dominant in the scrum and took the game to their visitors, whose defensive line was heroic. But choosing a scrum from an awarded penalty, some five meters out allowed scrum half Tom Hatch to dive over. Further pressure resulted in a Lewis Murray penalty.
With Fordingbridge finally making progress in to the home 22, they registered their first point with a penalty.
Early in the second half the visitors levelled with a try.
Vectis had a ten-minute spell of constant pressure in the visitors’ 22 and eventually, from their strong scrummaging, Tobias Penner scored, Murray adding the conversion. But Fordingbridge came back and levelled in the final minutes.
Winning the overall man of the match prize was Jack Wilson, forwards man of the match was Silas Gregory and backs was Jack Blanchard.
