RUGBYTHREE Island rugby players have been selected for the Under-15s Hampshire Training Squad.
After gruelling trials at Stanbridge Earls School in Romsey last Sunday, Vectis player Ben Ridley, 15, and Havant players Guy Entwistle, 14, and Peter Newell, 15, were chosen as part of the 52-man squad which will represent the county.
Sandown High School students and former Vectis players Guy, of Shanklin, and Peter, of Nettlestone, play at Number 8 and centre respectively.
Carisbrooke High School student Ben, of Newport, is a prop forward.
The Hampshire squad will train together and from those training sessions, teams will be picked.

A spokesman for Vectis Rugby Club said: "It is great that a member of our squad, and two former members, have been picked for the county. We wish them all well."
• Meanwhile, three Vectis under-16 players have undertaken a trial for places at London Irish’s advanced apprenticeship in sporting excellence.
Will Edwards, Haydn Ambler and Will Yates now have an anxious wait to see if any of them have gained a place for September.
