TABLE TENNISAN ALL-Ryde derby in Division 2 of the IW Table Tennis League went to the leaders, despite a spirited comeback from their rivals.
Roger Nevell got his usual hat-trick with two wins apiece for Ian Loosemore and Andy McQuillan as Ryde A won 7-3. Monty Singh won two for the B team.
Meanwhile, Dave Newnham and Barry Joyce steered Newport Vics B to a 9-1 win against Ryde C. Ray Ferris added a further two.
And Vics C appear to be on a roll as they beat CPC Panthers 7-3.
James Halliday pointed the way with a good hat-trick, Darren Cooke added two more, Martin Parsonage won one, and they took the doubles as well. Karen King won two for Panthers..
Vics C also defeated Saints 8-2, with another hat-trick for Halliday, two for Donal O’Rian and one for Parsonage, plus the doubles.
Despite Dave Rendles’s hat-trick, Havenstreet B lost 6-4 to Rookley Bees.
John Worley and Carl Rye both took braces to give the visitors a narrow win.
In the 30-up competition, Vics Juniors showed their improvement with a 21-9 win over Ventnor Coven. Anna Joyce won three, brother Michael took a brace, Nathan Jones won two more, and Peter Telford scored two for the Coven.
The biggest win was recorded by second-placed CPC Dynamos, who beat Newport Vics E 26-4. There were hat-tricks for Maggie Preston and Trevor Farmer, and two for Marlene Irving.
Mosquitos defeated Wiffwaffers 17-13, thanks to Harry Metz’s hat-trick and braces for Roy Bickler and Jean-Luc Belon. Roy Wiltshire won two for Wiffwaffers, who also won the doubles.
Ryde D are in danger of exiting the race for second place after an 18-12 defeat to Vics Terminators.
Trevor Percival won a hat-trick for Termintors, with Anna Joyce winning two more. Alan Hopkins replied with a brace for Ryde D.
