NETBALLShorwell 5 22, Solent 3 18

PLAYING with just six players, Solent were unfortunate not to hold on to their narrow lead until the end.

Goalkeeper Lorraine Parker returned from injury but Solent were missing key players Ellie Gawn and Rebekah Furmidge, meaning the first quarter was played with five players, instead of seven.

Despite this, Solent worked hard and managed to finish the quarter ahead.

Boosted by the late arrival of centre Raegan Booth and some excellent shooting from Rachel Fielder, Solent maintained a one-goal advantage throughout the next two quarters but Shorwell fought back in the last quarter, edging ahead and clinching the game.

Two Division 1 matches took place.

Shorwell 1 defeated Southern Vectis 48-13, while Solent 1 romped to a 61-19 win over Gurnard 2.
