FOOTBALLONLY two games in the IW Saturday League took place last week, as the season draws to a close.
Brading Town Reserves, who had three games left to play, looked for a big finish as they defeated Newchurch 13-0 at the Peter Henry Ground in Division 1.
They won with four goals from Dan Vale, two each from Ben Armstrong, James Phipps and Matt Burford, and one each from Joe Phelps, James Woodhouse and Jack Hayward.
Their Monday night clash with Ventnor was postponed to next week because of a waterlogged pitch, while they were due to play Northwood at home on Wednesday night.
Ventnor defeated Binstead COB 3-1, with a Billy Thompson penalty and goals from Harry Mulholland and Ross Lacey earning the points. Stuart Drake scored for Binstead.
Tuesday night’s IW Memorial Cup final between Oakfield and West Wight, due to take place at Brading’s home ground, was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and is scheduled to be replayed tomorrow (Saturday).
