Stone Lodge men's indoor bowls team is through to the semi-finals of the National Inter-club Denny Plate after a tremendous victory over Exeter-based Isca in a match played in Portsmouth last Saturday.

After winning the toss, Stone elected to take the mat first and the first end was shared with Mike Brick trailing the jack with his last wood to prevent his rink from dropping a large count.

Isca skipper Ray May single-handedly prevented Stone from taking six shots in the next end, but he could not stop Stone from bulding a 20-7 lead.

Stone has settled well on the fast-paced Portsmouth green and by the completion of five ends they had a commanding lead of 21 shots.

They held a 46-22 lead at the halfway stage which they built to a huge 97-55 win that now sees them face the long trip to Darlington to play Hartlepool in the semi-finals on February 16 and 17.
