GOLF
THANKS to difficult conditions, only one player broke par in Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club’s Mitcheson Trophy last weekend.
Defending champion, David Ames, struggled in the traditional bogey format with only ¾ of handicap allowance.
This was the theme for all the players, aside from John Miller, who shot an incredible five under his handicap, to capture the trophy.
Second place was David Coleman, who finished on level par, with Maurice Flux a shot behind in third.
Miller congratulated the head green keeper and his staff for getting the competition on and for their hard work in managing to keep the course playable.
