TRIATHLONTHERE was triple joy for the women of Wight Tri triathlon club when they brought home three prizes from the Concept Sport Salisbury Triathlon.
Lucy Wells, returning to triathlon after several years out, made a huge impact, coming second in the vet 40-44 age group and seventh woman overall in an excellent 1.42.43.
Liz Dunlop won the vet 55-59 category and was ninth woman overall, finishing in 1.43.56, while Natalie Bee won her first triathlon award by winning the 20-24 age group and 16th female overall, in a time of 1.50.41.
Meanwhile, there was disappointment for Steve Gratton, who finished in 1.33.40 and would have won the vet 55-59 age group, but was was disqualified after going through a red traffic light.
Cohan Tyler, 17, was fourth in a strong junior category, and 40th overall, in 1.34.57, with Steve Dines finishing four minutes behind in 1.38.05, for 55th overall and second in the vet 55-59 category.
Ben Willis was 11th in the 35-39 age group and 62nd overall, finishing in 1.39.16, while Rob Merrifield, in his first triathlon, was 12th vet 40-44 and 76th overall, in 1.42.30. Gareth Knight finished in 1.48.39, for seventh vet 50-54 and 111th overall.
Four days before competing in Salisbury, Liz Dunlop competed in the Club La Santa midweek triathlon in Lanzarote, finishing sixth woman overall and first vet 55-59.
