SANDOWN and Shanklin seconds made it a perfect double header against their Chichester counterparts, but they had to work hard for it.

CHICHESTER II 17, SANDOWN & SHANKLIN II 33
The game started well, with some good rugby played, and it did not take long for the Hurricanes to get on the score sheet.

Great passing from a breakdown gave Ash Smith space and the chance to open up the opposition's defence — weaving in and out of the Chichester back-line from his own 22m line to score under the posts.

Chichester made it hard for Sandown, who had to defend their try line multiple times with great tackles — but Sandown also pressed hard to put the hosts under enormous pressure.

More great play allowed Andy Greer to beat two defenders to score an outstanding try in the corner.

The second half became more of a challenge, with the hosts fired up and winning plenty of penalties and eventually their first try.

The Hurries responded well — Nathan Proud going on a strong run, cutting through four defenders on the angle, to score under the posts.

Chichester hit back with another try, but was no match for Smith's running skills to score a further two tries for his hat-trick.

The Islanders showed great spirit in the final ten minutes to repel numerous attacks.

Gary Warville converted the extras.
