RYDE School with Upper Chine's first team came away with the spoils from the Rugby Sevens tournament at Bournemouth School.

After a slow start against Milton Abbey School, where they lost 24-15, Ryde found a new gear and played hard against a talented team from Bishops Wordsworth’s School, to win 14-12.

They then met Warminster School in the semi-final, a side which had looked strong in the pool stages.

But it was Ryde who claimed a hard fought 12-5 victory, to move into the final.

There they met Milton Abbey, who started strongly and went in 7-5 up at half-time.

The second half saw a new level of focus from Ryde, who stormed to a 22-7 victory with a very strong team performance.

"The team had a brilliant time and showed incredible ambition and courage," said a Ryde School spokesperson.
